FIRST AAPS-NUS-BCP REGIONAL CONFERENCE
PharmSci@India10 is the inaugural student initiated symposium jointly organized by The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS)- National University of Singapore (NUS) Student Chapter and Bombay College of Pharmacy (BCP). It aims to facilitate local student participation in the activities of AAPS, increase awareness of career opportunities,and latest advances and discoveries in the Pharmaceutical arena. It provides Pharmacy students with opportunities for professional and leadership development.

Inauguration of DIA Student Chapter
What is Drug Information Association (DIA)? DIA is a professional association of more than 18,000 members worldwide who are involved in the discovery, development, regulation, surveillance, or marketing of pharmaceuticals or related products. DIA is committed to the broad dissemination of information among its members, with continuously improved professional practice as the goal. DIA serves its members in a neutral, global environment that operates independent of the influence of any one organization or authority. DIA operates as a financially independent nonprofit organization that funds itself from meeting and membership fees. The voluntary efforts of DIA members and speakers allow DIA to provide programs and publications to members at a reasonable, competitive cost. DIA Mission DIA is a nonprofit, multidisciplinary, neutral forum for sharing information that optimizes the process of drug development and lifecycle management by providing: • Global and regional forums for the exchange of information, education, and training; • Extensive multidisciplinary networking opportunities; • Rewarding volunteer leadership experiences; and • High-quality professional development opportunities. DIA Vision for Students. Those involved with DIA will benefit from the expertise and support of its vast number of members and professionals in the community which will enable them to grow in their professional careers. With this in mind, the event on 24th Feb. 2009 was the beginning of the Students Chapter in India, which was inaugurated at Bombay College of Pharmacy.

B.Pharm. program of BCP gets accreditation
The National Board of Accreditation (constituted by AICTE) has accredited the B.Pharm. program of Bombay College of Pharmacy. The NBA team visited the college on 20th and 21st Sept. 2007, and interacted with the staff, students, parents and the alumni of the college. The visiting team complimented the governance and organization of the college. They were impressed with the physical resources available in the college that helps BCP impart quality eduation to pharmacy students. The human resources factor was also applauded as being instrumental in bringing the college to the position it occupies as a leader in the field of pharmacy education in this country. Several other aspects like R&D initiatives by the faculty, finacial resources etc. were also applauded. BCP thus joins the list of elite institutions that have been accredited by NBA

BCP Faculty wins First Prize in Avishkar- 2009
Raghuvir RS Pissurlenkar, Faculty and PhD student at Bombay College of Pharmacy was selected to represent the University of Mumbai in the Inter University Research Festival Avishkar 2009 in the category of Medicine and Pharmacy – (Ph. D Teachers). This event was held at Solapur University during the period 11th – 13th January, 2010. He was awarded the First Prize for work done for his PhD dissertation entitled “Engineering techniques for QSAR of Peptides”. The judges have cited the development of two novel techniques code named HomoSAR and eQSAR as path breaking methods that address basic difficulties in the strategic design of peptides. This research work was carried out under the guidance of Prof. Evans Coutinho, Head of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department of Bombay College of Pharmacy.
